What does LTC mean to me?

Long term care means taking care of a patient for an extended period of time, usually for periods longer than 1 month. It allows the health care worker to form a very personal and close relationship with the patient. It is always a personal and important part of the health care field. Long term health care usually takes place in a assisted living community, nursing homes, or in the patients home itself. It usually also means an expensive hardship on the patient and the family of the patient. Most times long term care is the last stage of life for many patients which proposes a unique challenge for those health care providers that choose to take on the challenge of dealing with patients that are dying day in and day out.
